MEET COURTNEY

SUBSTITUTE INSTRUCTOR

  Courtney was raised in rural northwest Missouri and went to school at Stewartsville and graduated college from the University of Nebraska with a degree in Chemistry. She works as a Quality Assurance manager for a large animal health company. Her husband, Austin and Courtney live on a farm south of Altamont. They have 4 kids! Xander who is in 5th grade, Axton is in 3rd grade, Aubrey (my only girl) who is in Kindergarten and in her 3rd season dancing with EADA and her youngest Axle, who is 4! All the boys are into all the sports, so Courtney and Aubrey love their time at the dance studio. Here is her dance story. Courtney started taking gymnastics when she was very little, then switched to dance at Allison's School of Dance in St. Joseph. She took tap all through grade school and also started taking tumbling classes. At Allison's, she’d perform her dance recitals at the Missouri Theater  in St. Joseph. She said “I still remember sitting downstairs in the dressing rooms watching all the older kids in their costumes waiting to dance and thought it was so neat!”

In junior high and high school, she cheered and focused on tumbling. She went to state cheer competition her sophomore, junior and senior year and were state Champs her senior year.
After college she assisted her sister for two seasons, who was a dance instructor at Meri's Dance Studio. She helped her teach the little girls tap and ballet. She also then danced along with the senior level girls, tap and jazz (and performed with them and along with her sister in their spring recital).
She didn't get back to dance until Elite Arts Dance Academy opened in Gallatin and she finally had a daughter to take on her love and dreams of dance. She currently fills in as a substitute dance teacher a few times last year and has now joined the adult tap class on Thursdays this dance season.
