Ballroom dancing is a partnership dance where couples use step-patterns, move rhythmically, and express the characteristics of music.
Ballroom dancing consists of two styles: the Smooth, or Standard, and the Rhythm, or Latin.
Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz and Quickstep fall under Standard dances, where as dances like the East Coast Swing, Jive, Rumba, Cha Cha, Mambo, Samba and Paso Doble are all latin style dances.
Those are the main styles of ballroom but other popular dances, such as the Argentine Tango, Salsa, Merengue, West Coast Swing, Hustle, 2-Step and County and Western Dancing, are more recent additions to the world of Ballroom dance.
Students are expected to listen with respect and a willing attitude not just toward Miss Darylyn, but towards their fellow classmates. Ballroom you dance with the opposite gender. Awkward or insulting comments and complaints made in regard to this will not be permitted. Ballroom dance is not a solo dance.
